A native of North Carolina, Michael completed both undergraduate and medical school at the Universityof North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency in Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina where he served as chief resident, and was on faculty for three years after his residency. Dr. Zarzar returned to North Carolina in 1990 and has been in private practice since that time. He also holds an appointment at UNC in the Department of Psychiatry. He is board certified in Psychiatry and is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr. Nicholas Zarzar completed his undergraduate and medical school training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his residency in Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina Hospital. He is board certified in Psychiatry and is a member of the American Medical Association and American Psychiatric Association. He worked in community health after his training until 1997 and in private practice of Psychiatry from 1992 to the present.
Dr. David Zarzar is a graduate of the University of North Carolina, receiving his Bachelors degree in 1987. He completed medical school at UNC in 1993 and his residency in Psychiatry at UNC Hospitals in 1997. He has been in private practice in Raleigh since that time. Dr. Zarzar is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and is board certified in Psychiatry.
Alice holds an undergraduate degree in Social Work from James Madison University and a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her graduate work specialized in mental health and clinical social work services. She has 36 years experience in various out-patient and in-patient settings as a Clinical Social Worker/therapist. She joined the Zarzars' practice in 1993, and works as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing psychotherapy services for adults and couples.
Mary received her BSN from Duke University in 1980 where she was elected to Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society for Nursing. She is a 1986 graduate of Louisiana State University in New Orleans where she completed her Masters program in Psychiatric Nursing with a functional area in education. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in Adult Psychiatric/ Mental Health Nursing. Mary has over 37 years experience in the field of Mental Health. She has held positions in nursing management, and has been a visiting clinical instructor at UNC-CH School of Nursing. She has been in private practice since 1991.
